MARCH 2024 – 8th – 14th.
The anticipation for this Himalayan trek began to brew in January 2024 when a friend extended an invitation to embark on the renowned Kush Kalyan Trek in the Gharwal Range of Mountains. Known for its breathtaking landscapes of majestic mountains and lush meadows, this trek presented an enticing challenge with its moderate level of difficulty.
Eager to partake in this adventure, I resolved to approach it with a newfound dedication to preparation, unlike my previous trek with Roobaru Walks in May the previous year. Reflecting on that experience, I recognized the need to elevate my fitness levels for the upcoming journey.
Under the guidance of our team lead, Jayashri, meticulous planning ensued. From organizing travel arrangements to devising a rigorous workout regimen, every detail was meticulously attended to. Recognizing the demands of trekking in cold conditions, I embarked on a quest for gear and gadgets that would withstand the frigid temperatures and rugged terrain.
Day 1
Arrival in Dehradun
The journey commenced with anticipation as we embarked on our trekking adventure to the Himalayas. After a flight to Delhi, met up with our team, then another short flight to Dehradun, buzzing with excitement for the days ahead. As nightfall draped Dehradun, we settled into a cozy hotel, savoring a hearty dinner and sharing tales of past escapades.
Day 2
Adapting to Change
Morning, all excited as to how the Trek is going to be, what challenges it will bring this time around, as we convened for breakfast, greeted by our team lead who orchestrated our expedition. However, fate had a twist in store – the Kush Kalyan Trek was thwarted by recent snowfall. The trek was not safe as mules could not carry materials through the Trek path due to fresh snowfall.
Undeterred, we embraced the alternative suggested by our guide : the Chopta-Tungnath Temple Trek, culminating at Chandrishila Peak. With spirits undiminished, we embarked on a scenic drive to Kanatal, traversing verdant valleys and meandering rivers. Amidst laughter and awe, we forged bonds, eagerly anticipating the adventures that awaited.
