Day 7
Day6 Trek- 12.05. 2023. Trek to the Viewpoint of Naagling Glacier and Stream.
There would be a trek towards Naagling Glacier viewpoint in the morning.
There was an early batch. Then another little later to go for trek. The rest of them who did not want to go for the trek, had to walk a little distance to the plains and have a picnic breakfast in the meadows with beautiful scenery of mountains and stream flowing.
I wanted to go in the early batch as I wanted to collect some rocks from Himalayan range… that was my motivation to take the trek although I was told that there was a steep climb.
But I had setup my mind to not to miss out on this and wanted to achieve that no matter what, it gave me a fresh perspective and motivation to look forward to not missing out on anything wonderful. Also, I regretted not going that extra mile to go towards the previous day’s Glacier walk to see the ice and snow. Did not want to miss anymore on the last leg of trek.
Initial climb was along the meadows. Then climb on mountains started. It was tiring but kept up with the help of Suvrat, Rupa, Bhanu and Vinay. Along the mountain climbs, then meadows, we walked on for an hour and a half, reached the Naagling Glacier viewpoint.
A beautiful view, 3 mountains in the shape of a Horseshoe. Could not go to the stream as it would be late to get back, hence Suvrat and Kamal da picked-up couple of stones for me from the stream.
Walked back to the picnic spot for breakfast. It was Pahadi style, the kind the valley people have. Then walk back to Naagling village. We were leaving the valley as soon all of us reached who had gone for the trek. Bags were packed and kept. It was time to get back to the Jeeps to drive back to the plains and head towards Dharchula.
Excited to get back as plans were made to cross over to the Nepal side of Dharchula. It was a 5 hour drive back.
Reached the hotel. Nice to be back to civilization… Traffic and air quality, vehicles, and honking. Plans were made to go across to the Nepal side of Dharchula. Walk around, eat, and have a drink and come back. After reaching quickly freshened up. Started walking, reached the Check Post, where Border Security Soldiers were standing to check the bags and send you across, with instructions to no pics to be taken, no packets with black polythene cover and to be back by 7 pm as gates with close at both the borders, we set out to explore Nepal side.
Had to cross Kali Ganga River Bridge. Went to other country without passport or any much checks, saw that the locals were crossing over from both sides. Walked along the streets, but wanted to eat something and started looking. Couple of us were tired and after walking for a while, wanted to get back to our side of land as we did not find any place worthwhile.
Crossed back and had something to eat. Took some rest before dinner. Dinner time met with everyone, chatted for a while and the next day’s plan was to go to Sataal. It was 8 hour drive.
