Drive to Dharchula

Continuing Day 2 of my Himalayan Trek trip…
Trek Day 1 – Plan for Day 1 was to Drive to Dharchula. The plains according to the mountain people. The drive was 7-8 hours.
Couple of us wanted to see the sunrise at Mukteshwar and got up early and walk to a sunset point. Myself and my roomie Suman, overenthusiastic on first day, got up, got ready and started walking towards mountain side, thought we were the last ones and walked up a wrong way, after some time we called and figured we had to take a diversion, so had to come back and climb a hill side, which we skipped as we had already walked a lot. Just took stock of the view and slowing returned to the base camp …Camp Purple. Best part… missed the Sunrise.
Warm tea and biscuits were waiting, chatted for a while with the rest of the group. It was a beautiful morning. Very beautiful place to stay. Clicked couple of pics of the beautiful place. After breakfast, we started our journey to Dharchula.
Beautiful Scenic drive… mountains after mountains, houses on top of mountains. Dozed off for a while, did a quick sketch of the terrain.
We drove from one mountain top to another without much windings, which was good as there was no altitude sickness. Stopped at roadside eating small places to have simple meals like Dal roti and sabzi with rice and for nature calls. Simple but hot meals were served. Same with the Chai Stops. Chai laden with sugar and some quick snacks like biscuits and namkeens special to that region. Every stop had these beautiful Mountain backdrop and breathtaking scenery. Weather was extremely good… little cold and nice sunny weather.
Finally, we reached by 7 pm at Dharchula.
Freshened up and went in for dinner. A simple meal of Dal Roti subzi salad and sweet was served. In the quietness of the night sky, with the only noise of gushing water from the glacier fed Kali Ganga coming from the melting Mountain glaciers and waiting for the moon to come out from behind the Majestic Mountains… had never experienced such serenity. Got to know that the mountain we were seeing was in Nepal, which was separated by the river and could go over to the other side through a connecting bridge.
Samir, the team lead, introduced us to the Trek guide Kamal Da and his team who were going to accompany us for the rest of the days. Who were the logistic people. Discussed the plans for the next day …
Day 2 of Trek, the plan as explained was, further road trips in Jeep. First stop at Naagling, lunch there, then to the mountains of Duktu valley, trek to a valley there and stay in tents. Then next morning trek up to Dhatu valley.
